Dear Bali, you make us smile :-)! We simply love the Bali lifestyle. Wandering around the island on your scooter, enjoying beach life, talking to people from all over the world, maybe you catch a wave, enjoy the food and feel the lively Bali culture.

Bali made us fall in love with the use of rattan / ata grass for all kinds of products. Our BULUH bags and ALANG-ALANG bag are handcrafted by families in a remote village in East-Bali. The names of the bags refer to the material rattan / ata grass in Indonesian.

But Bali, we are also a bit worried about you!

Bali has its very own volcano on Mount Agung. Local authorities have raised alert levels and the volcano could erupt for the first time in more than 50 years.

We were informed by our local supplier that a lot of families had to leave their homes. Some of our artisans were evacuated due to the threat of a volcanic eruption. Many of the refugees who fled their homes cannot wait to go back to their everyday lives and take care of their garden, crops and temples. It has been more than a month since the maximum volcano alert was issued in Bali and about 180,000 people have been forced to evacuate.

Due to this evacuation, a lot of artisans who normally work their magic on our bags cannot leave their houses or evacuation homes easily. This makes it more difficult for them to do their work and deliver our products.

E+W stands for a fair price for our suppliers and due to the volcano alert, Bali faces a lot of difficulties. We do our best to help the local families by covering the extra production costs for the bags and telling their story to you. We will also contribute €1 of each sold Bali bag to Bali Children's Project, who help supply clothes, blankets, baby food, milk and other necessities to children in evacuation zones.

Bali, we hope that you will stay safe!

Lots of love
